4th International Summer School on Big Data Analysis in Earth Sciences (EarthBiAs2018)

EarthBiAs2018 is organized by the Department of Environment and the
Department of Information and Communication Systems Engineering of the
University of the Aegean, in collaboration with Global Network for
Environmental Science and Technology (GNEST). It is an international
Summer School on Big Data Analysis in Earth Sciences and will be held
in Rhodes from 3rd to 7th September 2018.

This is the 4th year the EarthBiAs Summer School is running and
following the successful events in previous years, the programme covers
a wide range of topics including Machine Learning, Data Science and Deep
Learning using Big Data technologies. Courses are offered for
participants with a background in mathematics, statistics, data science,
software engineering, environmental modelling etc. All lectures are
lab-based, presented by academics and industry professionals with deep
experience in Big Data and Artificial Intelligence systems. The last day
of the Summer-School, a hackathon event will be organized. In this
challenge, participants and lecturers will be split into teams to
prototype the solution of an analytical problem.

The topics covered by the Summer School are:

Big Data frameworks (Spark, TensorFlow)
Machine Learning on environmental data
Data management and feature engineering using R and Python
Deep Learning models on environmental time series data.
