Epigenetic Mechanisms in Health and Disease. Barcelona Conference on Epigenetics and Cancer

Among the most important challenges in biomedicine is to understand the role of chromatin and epigenetics in human health and disease. During last 15 years, epigenetics has consolidated as a new multi-disciplinary field on its own with an enormous scientific and therapeutic potential for cancer and many other relevant human pathologies such as cardiovascular diseases, aging, neurodegenerative diseases and diabetes. “Epigenetic mechanisms in health and disease” is the last of a series of Barcelona Conferences on Epigenetics and Cancer (BCEC). The 2017 edition is co-organized by B·Debate, an initiative of Biocat and "la Caixa" Foundation, and the Molecular Biology Institute of Barcelona (IBMB-CSIC), together with Josep Carreras Leukemia Research Institute (IJC). The scientific program has been put together by Albert Jordan, Ferran Azorin, Marian Martínez-Balbas, Jordi Bernuès and Marcus Buschbeck. The aim of the BCEC 2017 is to bring together young and established scientists in an interdisciplinary forum to review the progress made in the field of epigenetics. Presentations will highlight the translation of basic research into clinical applications and discuss still unexploited fundamental insights. We will cover topics including stem cell biology, development, leukemia and nuclear organization.
