Stanford Researchers Study the Reliability of Smart Watches in JPM Article

Measuring heart rate and energy expenditure using wrist-worn devices has recently become very popular, but do they really work? Professor Euan A. Ashley and his colleagues from Stanford University have tested seven different models to see how they perform in different activities. The paper, which was published in the Journal of Personalized Medicine, represents an important study in the use of personal activity monitoring, and the authors call for the establishment of better benchmarking for such devices.
