The North American Conference on Chinese Linguistics (NACCL) is an annual conference held in spring/early summer at different host institutions throughout North America. NACCL-29 is being hosted by Rutgers University, June 16-18, 2017 in New Brunswick, NJ. The theme of this year’s conference is Perspectives on the History, Geography, and Sociolinguistics of Chinese and Chinese Dialects. While papers on all topics related to Chinese linguistics were considered, this year’s conference will focus on the following: Sociolinguistic cultural perspectives on the dialects of the Chinese-speaking diaspora; Geolinguistic and sociolinguistic examinations of Chinese dialects; Historical linguistics and the history of Chinese phonology, grammar, and lexicon; and, Multilingualism, language contact, and language policy in the present and in the past.
