Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The journal Languages is accepting submissions for a Special Issue regarding the syntax–prosody interface with a particular focus on East Asian languages. We aim to highlight both cutting-edge work regarding a current issue in  linguistics and the contribution of research on often-marginalized languages to the shaping of general linguistic theory. We welcome submissions from any discipline within the broader ambit of linguistics, i.e., those that primarily situate themselves within syntax, semantics, pragmatics, morphology, phonology, and phonetics, as well as interdisciplinary contributions from areas such as psycholinguistics, neurolinguistics, computational linguistics, and language processing which clearly highlight theoretical consequences of the formal study of East Asian languages. We would like to emphasize that, alongside more theoretically oriented work, empirical contributions are also encouraged.

Tentative Completion Schedule

  • Abstract Submission Deadline: 15 February 2024
  • Notification of Abstract Acceptance: 15 March 2024
  • Full Manuscript Deadline: 15 August 2024

We request that, prior to submitting a manuscript, interested authors initially submit a proposed title and an abstract of 400-600 words summarizing their intended contribution. Please send it to the guest editor ([email protected]) or to the Languages editorial office ([email protected]). Abstracts will be reviewed by the guest editors for the purpose of ensuring a proper fit within the scope of the Special Issue. Full manuscripts will undergo a double-blind peer-review.

Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a double-blind peer-review process.
