Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
The prevalence of gestational diabetes has significantly increased over the last few years, in line with the dramatic rise in obesity and type 2 diabetes. This condition significantly impacts maternal and fetal health, leading to short-term and long-term adverse outcomes for both mothers and their offspring.
The purpose of this Special Issue is to discuss different aspects of gestational diabetes, which might help to strengthen prevention and treatment strategies. Specifically, the role of emerging risk factors and novel biomarkers with potential diagnostic and prognostic utility will be examined, as well as the impact of both well-established and new therapeutic strategies on short- and long-term clinical outcomes of pregnancy complicated by gestational diabetes. Furthermore, developments in the understanding of the pathophysiological aspects of this condition will also be explored. Research articles, review articles, as well as short communications are invited.
