Special Issue Information

Dear colleagues,

We have launched a Special Issue titled “Advanced Research on Viral Pathogens, Cancer and Host Immunity”. This Special Issue aims to solicit primary research articles, reviews, editorials, and commentaries on contemporary and hot topics from all related researchers, for consideration for publication.

Due to the pandemic, scholars have experienced significant delays in their research works. Despite the current situation, many researchers have devoted their time to conducting research and submitting their original papers on COVID-19 to Pathogens in the hope that these published papers might assistant researchers in combating the virus. In the hope of acknowledging scholars’ works and avoiding inconveniences brought by the pandemic, we open this special issue for your submission. We sincerely hope that all experts in this research field will publish papers based on their research over recent years.

We also welcome submissions from all scholars in the field.

Dr. Anthony Kian-Fong Liou
Dr. Jamie Mong Chen Yee

Tissue pathogens are commonly encountered in histopathology and cytology practice, where they can present as either benign mimickers of malignancy or true malignancies. The aim of this review is to provide a timely synthesis of our understanding of these tissue pathogens, with an emphasis on pertinent diagnostic conundrums associated with the benign mimickers of malignancy that can be seen with viral infections and those which manifest as granulomas. The oncogenic pathogens, including viruses, bacteria, and parasites, are then discussed with relationship to their associated malignancies. Although not exhaustive, the epidemiology, clinical manifestations, pathogenesis, and histological findings are included, along with a short review of emerging therapies. Full article
