Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Advances in functionalized polymer nanocomposites is a relevant topic in various fields concerning industry and academic research. The main focus is how to improve the performance of polymeric nanocomposite materials through advanced techniques such as functionalization, grafting and structural change of the nanomaterials. Several interesting properties such as optical and magnetic behaviors, electrical/thermal conductivity, toughness, stiffness and mechanical strength etc. can be changed with advancements in the polymeric nanocomposite material. There are generally two constituents of advanced polymer composites—the matrix material or polymer (which is generally the low-strength and low-modulus component) and the fiber (generally a relatively high-strength and high-modulus component).

This Special Issue, “Advances in Functionalized Polymer Nanocomposites”, will collect innovative original research and review papers focusing on the scientific discussion and practical applications in the field of advances in polymer nanocomposites. Authors are encouraged to submit their research in the following areas: recent structural developments in polymeric materials, their manufacturing and processing technologies, polymer product design considering their economic and environmental impacts, and the use of functionalization towards improving the polymeric nanocomposite materials’ applicability for energy and environment and other industrial applications (e.g., green energy, biomedical materials, opto-electronics and sensing, coating, carbon, and magnetic materials). Topics of special interest include but are not limited to the preparation, chemical synthesis, structural design, material selection, characterization, morphology and applications of advanced polymer nanocomposites. This Special Issue will help researchers, academicians and those in industry to gain advanced knowledge in this vast field.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Polymers is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2700 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
