Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

This Special Issue of Sustainability, entitled "Diversification of Urban and Peri-Urban Horticulture for Future Sustainability", explores innovative approaches and strategies that will enhance the sustainability of urban and peri-urban horticulture practices, and investigates various aspects of urban horticulture, including its ecological, economic, and social dimensions. We welcome contributions that examine the potential of diverse horticultural techniques, such as vertical farming, agroforestry, and community gardens, to promote sustainable food production, conserve biodiversity, and strengthen urban resilience. Authors may also submit articles that encompass the multifaceted aspects of urban and peri-urban horticulture, such as the principle of circularity as it applies to horticultural production systems. This Special Issue aims to contribute to the existing literature on urban agriculture and sustainability, providing valuable information for academics, practitioners, and researchers that will aid in advancing global horticultural sustainability. Ultimately, this collection of articles strives to foster a deeper understanding of the role of urban horticulture in shaping more sustainable and resilient urban food systems for the future.
