Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Data, models, methods and analysis are required to navigate energy transition to sustainability. They can help to set sustainable targets, monitor, report on progress and consider sustainable development potentials. This Special Issue is aimed at the measurement and evaluation of energy sustainability efforts and the effects of various sustainable development policies. We expect the submission of high-quality research that estimates and evaluates the effectiveness of programs in achieving target energy sustainability outcomes. The aim is to make judgments about the programs, to improve programs’ effectiveness, and to inform decision makers about future program development. Both studies of outcome monitoring and impact evaluation assessments are welcome. Impact evaluation assesses the changes that can be attributed to a particular energy policy intervention and answers how the outcome would have changed in the absence of the intervention. In contrast, outcome monitoring examines whether targets have been achieved and seeks to answer cause-and-effect, i.e., the changes that are directly attributable to a program. Such research used in evidence-based policy making supports decision makers in determining what works, what does not, and what quantifies the effects. Evaluation methods have been developed rapidly and have received increasing attention in policy making. It is an important component of evaluation tools, approaches, and efforts to improve the effectiveness of social welfare, development, and environmental policy programs to improve living standards. Impact evaluation is now being increasingly applied in many areas such as agriculture, energy, labor, health, education, transport, and the environment. This Special Issue intends to contribute to the development, enhancement, and application of measurement and assessment tools and processes in the area of energy to help to navigate the path toward sustainable development.
