8th International Conference on Emerging Zoonoses

The 8th International Conference on Emerging Zoonoses in Kansas follows seven successful conferences, each of which provided an interdisciplinary forum for physicians, veterinarians, epidemiologists, immunologists, virologists, microbiologists, public health experts and others concerned with the ever increasing problems associated with the transmission of infectious diseases from animals to humans and the economic impact of transboundary diseases.

In order to properly address these issues in our conference we plan to have special workshops which will be organized by experts in their fields. Potential topics might include: the ecology of emerging zoonotic and transboundary diseases; the role of wildlife in emerging zoonoses and transboundary diseases; cross-species transmission of zoonotic and transboundary pathogens; emerging and neglected influenza viruses; hemorrhagic fever viruses; emerging and transboundary bacterial diseases; outbreak responses to zoonotic and transboundary diseases; food-borne zoonotic diseases; prion diseases; and modeling and prediction of emergence of zoonoses and transboundary diseases.
