Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

The current work on MMP8 has been reviewed.

The work is interesting and showcases useful prognostic importance in PDAC.

The work suffices all the needs however, it would be good to see a staining if the c reactive protein to verify prognosis alongside MMP expression.

There is also a slight necessity to improve few typographical errors in the manuscript.

Reviewer 2 Report

Major concerns:

  • Although the work is interesting as presented, it lacks of significant novelty and impact
  • The authors can provide if their finding can also be use as a predictive biomarker for the response to the different treatment option
  • The authors need to add the biological tumor characterization for confirm the PDAC molecular features

Minor concerns:

  • The authors need to add more information in the material and methods regarding the CRP detection and measurement
  • Revise the style and make it uniform

Matrix Metalloproteinase 8 Expression in the Tumour Predicts 2 Favourable Prognosis in Pancreatic Ductal Adenocarcinoma

Kaasinen et al.

This manuscript reports the analyses of PDAC specimens for MMP-8 and CRP. Authors found that negative MMP-8 staining and high CRP predict poor prognosis and positive MMP-9 and low CRP predict a favorable outcome. Overall, this report is systematic and logically presented. I have only one question about the reliability of the antibody. Have you tested the specificity of the MMP-8 antibody used in this study? If so, please describe it in the method section.
