Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

The Short Note by Zulfikar and collaborators reports on the isolation of a novel onoceranoid-type triterpenoid from Lansium  domesticum Corr. cv kokossan and its activity against MCF-7 breast cancer cells. The authors report on the IC50 values of the compound in the Discussion section, however it would be more suitable to move this part of the text into the Results section. The manuscript is otherwise suitable for publication in the Molbank journal.

Reviewer 2 Report

Finding new compounds and its bioactivity is an important research. In my opinion, this manuscript is fine. The only concern is the chemical name of compound 1. The IUPAC system should name it ...7,14-dien-21-one.

Reviewer 3 Report

In the manuscript “A new onoceranoid-type triterpenoid from Lansium domesticum Corr. cv kokossan” the authors isolated and elucidated the structure of a new natural onoceranoid triterpene.

The structural elucidation by NMR experiments seems correct. The structure is very similar to 3β-hydroxyonocera-8(26),14-dien-21-one, differing on the position of the double bound in B-ring. Here are few comments/suggestions for minor revision:

title: I suggest replace “onoceranoid-type triterpenoid” for n onoceranoid triterpenes.

Introduction
line 22: replace “fruit” by “plant”. Also use “widely grows”
line 24: Please consider instead. “Several bioactive triterpenoids have been isolated from L. domesticum [4–9], of which some have shown  potential anticancer [10], antibacterial [11], insecticide [12], antimalarial [13], antimutagenic [14–15], and antifeedant activities [16].”
line 27: Remove “During our continuing 27 investigation for novel active compounds from tropical Meliaceae plants” and please consider instead. “Previously, we have isolated [exact number of molecules] triterpenes from the seed and bark of L. domesticum Corr. cv kokossan [3; 16].”
line 30: Use “report” instead of “reported” and “the new oncoceranoid…(1)” instead of “a new oncoceranoid…”

Results
line 36: use comma before and after “respectively”, before “at room temperature”. And consider instead of “…obtaining n-hexane…” to start a new sentence like. “…at room temperature. After solvent removal under reduced pressure, we obtained the n-hexane (86 g), ethyl acetate (110 g), and methanol (75 g) crude extracts.”
line 42: Please use “…resunting in four fractions…”
line 45: m/z should be written in italic font type

Discussion
line 50: please consider remove “Compound 1 was isolated as a white crystal.” it is repeating information.
line 50: Consider replace “… 1 was obtained as C30H48O2…” for “… 1 was proposed as C30H48O2…”
line 58: Please consider instead “The two trisubstituted double bonds and the carbonyl in an system with seven degrees of unsaturation suggested that 1 possess a tetracyclic structure. Previous studies supported that evidence, indicating that compound 1 has an onoceranoid-type triterpenoid [3; 14]”
line 74: Please remove “further”
line 75: Please consider instead “…[5], uniquely differing on the double bond position in the B ring.”

Materials and Methods
line 96: Please add “Corr. cv kokossan (Meliaceae).”
