Comments and Suggestions for Authors

A review manuscript by Jin et al entitled “Autophagy: Amino acids signal dependent or independent on mTORC1 pathway” is a concise review paper for journal “Current issues in molecular biology”. The manuscript needs better writing, especially the past tense appeared frequently used. Since this is a review manuscript, the author needs to make sure that each sentence disseminates the correct information of the cited manuscript. For example, page 155, instead of phospholipid ethanol, shouldn’t it be phosphatidylethanolamine? Page 142-146, and many more places.

Author Response

To Reviewer 1:

Thank you very much indeed for your excellent comments on our manuscript. We are very glad to revise our paper according to your comments. The changes of revised manuscript were highlighted in yellow, and the explanations for comments were listed as below.

Comments and Suggestions for Authors

This review article provides an interesting experience for understanding amino acid-dependent autophagy processes. The authors have focused on the effects of four amino acids. Overall, the explanation of the regulation of autophagy by amino acids is well explained, but more recent references (approximately after 2020) can be added for a better follow-up.

Comments and Suggestions for Authors

The review article by Cheng-long Jin et al., outlined the molecular mechanism of amino acids regulating autophagy via the dependent or independent mTORC1 signaling pathway. The author also explained how specific amino acids (Lys, Leu, Arg, and Gln) influence autophagy. Overall, the paper was well-structured and included an adequate reference. However, a few issues must be addressed before the paper is considered for publication. The quality of the manuscript writing is likely good. Still, manuscripts need minor editing.

Comments:

The author should show the regulatory scheme for autophagy: dependent or independent mTORC1 signaling pathway, which is significant in this review. This will make it much easier for readers to understand and follow the manuscript.

Page 1: line 14 and line 33 the author should remove the repetitive sentence  “ Autophagy is a kind of self-eating phenomenon  …...!“

Line 103 of Page 3 is unclear: "The specific process is divided into…."

Author Response

To Reviewer 3:

Thank you for your encouragement. We are very glad to revise our paper according to your comments. The changes of revised manuscript were highlighted in blue, and the explanations for comments were listed as below.

Question 1: The author should show the regulatory scheme for autophagy: dependent or independent mTORC1 signaling pathway, which is significant in this review. This will make it much easier for readers to understand and follow the manuscript.

Answer1: Thank you for your suggestion, we have added the regulatory scheme for autophagy: dependent or independent mTORC1 signaling pathway, please see Table 1 and Table 2.

Question 2: Page 1: line 14 and line 33 the author should remove the repetitive sentence “Autophagy is a kind of self-eating phenomenon…...!”

Answer2: Thank you for your recommendation, we have deleted the repetitive sentence in line 34-36.

Question 3: Line 103 of Page 3 is unclear: "The specific process is divided into…."

Answer3: Thank you for your advice. We have re-written this sentence, please see line 103-104.
