Comments and Suggestions for Authors

In this paper Dembitsky provide an overview of recent discoveries and advancements in the field of steroid chemistry. Here are some corrections and suggestions to consider:

 - It would be convenient to re-organize the information presented. It would be useful to add different subtitles for each kind of ketosteroids, for example, organize by biological activities, or the source of the ketosteroids.

- For the 1-ketosteroids and 2-ketosteroids the introduction for these kinds of compounds is too similar, it is suggested to rewrite them.

- It is suggested to use different grammar connectors to improve the relationship between the reports presented.

- The tables presented are a great way to summarize biological activities, but in some cases the activities are repeated and could be integrated in the same row. For example, in table 1, cytotoxic activity is repeated.

- It is suggested to improve the conclusion to emphasize the importance of the ketosteroids and the areas of opportunity that its isolation or synthesis represents.

Comments and Suggestions for Authors

Articl is written in a very good and understanding way. With a lot of data, so it is a really nice collection of all natural isolated steroides. I would accept this article after a small correction. In the abstract you miss a first, introduction sentence why is important to have data about ketosteroids, steroides in general.

Comments and Suggestions for Authors

The manuscript describes ketosteroids compounds isolated from diverse natural sources such as marine organism, fungi, and plants and the ecological and medicinal relevance of these metabolites, which show potential therapeutic properties. The work represents a deep and convenient study of steroidal chemistry. Presents minor observations.

Comments and Suggestions for Authors

Dear author

Here are some recommendations for enhancing the manuscript.

Warm regards,

Comment 1.

Line 66-70, Figure 1.

Reword the legend for Figure 1. Considering that rather than being a legend, the information provided in this legend is more closely akin to discussion information than to a short textual information that guides the reader in interpreting what they see.

The text ought to make reference to Figure 1.

Comment 2.

Line 95-96. The statement "As an example, we present steroids with different structures containing a carbonyl group in position 1 isolated from plants" should be followed by "Figure 2".

Comment 3.

Line 115-135, A reference to the Figure should be included to support the information in these lines.

Line 136-172, A reference to the Figure should be included to support the information in these lines.

Comment 4.

Remove the full stop and the space from 1-. Ketosteroids2-. Ketosteroids etc.

Minor remarks:

1.     Line 73, [28,29] give a space

2.     Line 102, replace “… and F (6, structures see in Fig. 2)” by “… and F (6), structures see in Fig. 2”

3.     Line 160 “Figure 3. 1-Ketosteroids derived from microorganisms and plants.“, is a repetition of line 128 “Figure 3. 1-Ketosteroids derived from microorganisms and plants.” It is necessary to write a new figure number and legend.
