Cover Story: The social stigma toward individuals with mental health problems is habitual among nursing students, which can lead to poor quality of healthcare services for patients with mental illnesses and reduce student clinical practice utilization. Clinical simulation is an excellent way to learn clinical skills. This study explored nursing students’ perceptions of providing care to patients with severe mental disorders before and after participating in high-fidelity simulation training. This training allowed nursing students to get close to mental health patients, overcome their fears, and normalize mental disorders before any direct social contact occurs in their clinical practice. This clinical simulation experience had a positive effect on the students by providing the necessary security and confidence to provide adequate patient care during their clinical practicum.
