This study analyzes the effects of geometric characteristics of curved segments. On the whole, the experimental content of the research is rich, but the theory of the research is a little insufficient. Detailed modification suggestions are as follows:

  1. The title of the paper is suggested to be simplified.

 

  2. The format of keywords needs to be confirmed and modified.

 

  3. The research background needs to be further supplemented, and the literature review suggests further refining and summarizing.

 

  4. The academic theory of the paper needs to be strengthened, research methods, especially mathematical formula description, need to be supplemented and improved,  rather than just experimental description.

 

  5. Although there are abundant experiments, the methods of the research is simple, machine learning methods, especially classification algorithms, need to be further compared and analyzed.

 

  6. The different significance of the p-value in the experimental results is suggested to be distinguished by different asterisks.

 

  7. The shortcomings and future prospects of the research need to be further summarized separately.

In sub-section 3.1, when considering the driving speed reference should also be made to the design equilibrium speed of the curves because driving below or above the equilibrium speed will have an impact on the safety performance of negotiating the curves.

In section 3 the design of the transition between the curve and the tangent should also be considered as the cant gradient would also have an impact on the safety performance of entering or leaving the curve.

Answer: We agree with your comment. This is now clarified in the new submission.

Answer: Thank you for this relevant comment. Indeed, we also considered transition curves to create a smooth changeover between the tangents and the circular curves. This is also designed in the driving simulator experiments; we just didn't mention it in the earlier submission. This is now clarified in the new submission.
