Review of “Optimization of urease production…..”, Yunxiu et al.

Questions and Comments

·        In Tables 2, 3 and in the text, “Nitrogen concentration” and “Carbon concentration” are used. Is this concentration of the element N or C or the concentration of the compound containing them?

·        Line 163, what is Toron grouting? Is there a reference?

·        Figure 3. OD does not measure Biomass per se. It is based on light scattering and can be influenced by particle size. Does OD actually correlate to biomass in this case?

·        Figure 3. The figure (c) has yeast dip powder concentration (g/L) on the x-axis but the caption says it is nitrogen concentration (g/L). Which is it?

·        Line 338 states that optimization has a good effect – compared to what?

Minor editorial suggestions

·        Change “powde” shown throughout the text to “powder”

·        Line 99; change “the bacteria cell at the bottom” to “the bacterial cells at the bottom”

·        Acronyms should be introduce with the complete text the first time they are used. This is not done in all cases.

·         Line 150; Change “shaked” to “shaken”

·        Line 233. Change “..absorption of the strainto “..absorption by the strain..”

·        Line 247. Change “..was cultured in the medium with carbon source..” to “..was cultured in the medium with different carbon sources..”
