Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

1.     Introduction

(1)   “The CO2 emission has been mentioned as the dominant pollutant that contribute to the climate change.” Nowadays, carbon emission reduction is the focus of research. Methanol, biodiesel and other alternative fuels can achieve good engine performance while achieving carbon emission reduction. So why is Diesel Spray? Please elaborate on the necessity of thoroughly understanding spray atomization in terms of carbon emission reduction.

(2)   Several factors are known to be responsible for the spray atomization: (i) the aerodynamic forces, (ii) internal turbulent, (iii) mutation of boundary condition at nozzle exit, and (iv) internal flow cavitation. (i), (iii) and (iv) were discussed below, why not specifically discussed (ii).

2.     Why reviewed emission in diesel engine, emission reduction technology, and advanced diesel combustion? What is the help of these contents in introducing diesel spray?

3.     Emission Reduction Technology

There are lack of references, the following articles can be cited such as: Catalysts. 2019; 9(4):349. https://doi.org/10.3390/catal9040349; Chemical Engineering Journal,2020,384, 123253.https://doi.org/10.1016/j.cej.2019.123253; Atmosphere 2022, 13, 731. https://doi.org/10.3390/atmos13050731.

4.     Advanced Diesel Combustion

This part did not make clear what advanced diesel combustion is.

5.     What is the help of Engine Modeling Development in introducing diesel spray?

6.     Optical Measurement Systems

The knowledge about optical measurement system introduced in this part is not enough.

7.     Conclusion

Literature review is to express one's own views by borrowing others' views, so what is your opinion on diesel spray?

8.     Future Works

Why the future work is interaction of wall and spray and increase in injection pressure? Please give a more convincing explanation

Reviewer 2 Report

This is a well-written review paper by the authors on the Diesel Spray system. A few minor suggestions are recommended for inclusion.

There are more than (20%) plagiarism (less than 8 words; excluding references and quote) throughout the manuscript which needs to be minimize substantially.

Several factors are known to be responsible for the spray atomization…..aerodynamic forces. However, the Authors fail to briefly explain the possible solution to the problem with relevant references.

It is better to briefly discuss the ‘mixture formation’ and ‘spray atomization’ in the introduction section for better clarity before a thorough discussion in section 6.

A some places, the English Language needs to be refine.
