Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

The article is interesting and well written, however, it needs some corrections and revisions:

1)     In the Introduction there is a small mention about sustainable development and later, on the Conclusions, a reference of SGDs. Stablishing the relation of this paper with sustainability would turn it more interesting;

2)      The Literature review can be revised to support concepts, evidences and statements with cross-references, from recent works. The case study is about perceived governance, among others, so the theoretical background needs some information about that issue;

3)     Concerning the structured: in point 3.1   it is necessary to explain first the model (some information is on point 3.3) and then the hypothesis;

4)     It is missing a discussion of the results with cross-references.

5)      Line 95 - there is an English error;

6)     There are 0 references of 2021, 0 references of 2020,  1 of 2019 and 1 of 2018. Please increase more references from more recent works;

7)     The authors have to specify first the name associated to the acronyms. For example: SPSS, ESG, SDGs, RTOs;

8)     The authors have to specify the citations: see chapter 3.3;

9)     Tables  cross pages. Authors have to avoid this situation;

10)  Graphics issues are important, so authors have to improve some aspects. For example, Tables 1, 9 and 10. See template;

11)  Pease see template and review formal aspects.

Reviewer 2 Report

Dear Authors,

The presented research topic "A Tourist Gaze on Local Tourism Governance: the relationship between local tourism governance and local tourism brand equity, local tourism attachment" aims to investigate the impact of local tourism governance on awareness of local tourism brand equity and local tourism attachment as perceived by tourists.

After reading the paper, I have the following comments and suggestions to improve the paper:

Title: I suggest changing the title of the paper. The current one is too long and contains 4 words tourism.

Abstract:

The abstract should be revised according to the guidelines of the journal.

In the Introduction.

This part is interesting, well presented and introduces the reader to the topic. Towards the end, the research questions are presented.

In Theoretical Background

This part provides important information about the state of the research. The authors have demonstrated their knowledge of the literature.

In Research method.

I propose to present a scheme of the research procedure. How were the respondents selected?

Results

The results were presented and described in a good way and are very interesting. The hypotheses of the work have been confirmed. The purpose of the work has been achieved.

I suggest that the Conclusions and Implications section should be divided into a Discussion and Conclusions section.

The authors should compare their project and results with the results of similar studies conducted on this topic from other parts of the world.

Technical errors to be corrected:

The literature list needs to be improved according to the journal's guidelines.

[418] - Table 1 needs to be corrected.

[527] - Table 9 needs to be corrected.

[537] - Table 10 needs to be corrected.

In conclusion, I recommend the paper for publication in the journal Sustainability after making minor changes.

Kind regards,

Dear authors,

This is a very interesting manuscript.

I have only one recommendation, namely reducing the length of some sentences.

For example (line 64 to 71), “In particular, from the viewpoint that destinations should be more differentiated through the formation of special brand identities in destination marketing efforts, because many leading destinations have reached the stage to provide the best accommodations, attractive points, and various high level services in recently years, local tourism governance, including the local DMO, promotes the core functions of organic bonding among stakeholders in the region and rational decision-making, and it can ultimately become a criterion for evaluating the destination and region for brand equity and identity from the gaze of tourists visiting the region for the purpose of local tourism.”.

Review this in the entire manuscript.

Well done.

Author Response

Thank you for your kind consideration.
As you said, the long sentences have been rearranged as a whole.
