Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

The contribution is actual and important from the view of environmental sustainability. The authors clearly described the goal of the paper and the using of its results. The English version of the paper is readable easily. I like the idea authors used social nets by which they can obtain worldwide data. The process of the research is understandable due to the individual steps in the frame of chapter 3. The data are used for testing of the hypothesis (I am rather not able to evaluate detail of the statistic verification of the hypothesis; it’s up to the authors verificationJ. Every hypothesis is discussed with results of other authors, which increase use of the paper results. I like the idea authors suggested future possible research, extended to other countries.

I suggest following changes:

  • Use different word in key words, not the same as in the title (it could increase visibility in the various databases finders)
  • Mention TBL approach as one of the approaches, solving environmental sustainability together with economic impacts (see for example Csikosova, A., Janoskova, M., Culkova, K. 2020. Providing of tourism organizations sustainability through Tripple Bottom Line approach. Entrepreneurship and Sustainability Issues, 8(2), 764-776. DOI:9770/jesi.2020.8.2(46)
  • Chapter theoretical foundation is rather Present state of problem solving
  • Limitation of the research in chapter 2 (third paragraph) is rather part of the paper goal and its limitation in the frame of the introduction
  • It could be contribution if authors explain adaptation from Highhouse et al. (2003) results.
  • I recommend to check formatting of the references in the list of the references according to the journal format

Author Response

Reviewer 1

We appreciate reviewer 1 preliminary comments that will complement our work.

Comment 1: Use different word in key words, not the same as in the title (it could increase visibility in the various databases finders)

Thank you for the suggestion. Using different and complementary key-works will undoubtedly increase the paper's visibility.

Comment 2: Mention TBL approach as one of the approaches, solving environmental sustainability together with economic impacts (see for example Csikosova, A., Janoskova, M., Culkova, K. 2020. Providing of tourism organizations sustainability through Tripple Bottom Line approach. Entrepreneurship and Sustainability Issues, 8(2), 764-776. DOI:9770/jesi.2020.8.2(46)

We are thankful to reviewer 1 for his/her suggestion. A better explanation of TBL will help the reader understand our work's relation with sustainable development. In addition, we enjoyed reading the suggested paper. To better understand the introduction of TBL in sustainable development as a whole, in different organizations/sectors, and in different organizational departments, we added that and other additional references. The list of the new references is presented at the end of this document.

Comment 3: Chapter theoretical foundation is rather Present state of problem solving

We agree with reviewer 1 that the section's name does not clearly explain its content thus we decided to change it into “Theoretical Framework and Research Hypotheses”.

Comment 4: Limitation of the research in chapter 2 (third paragraph) is rather part of the paper goal and its limitation in the frame of the introduction

Based on reviewer 1 comment, we decided to follow his/her suggestions by integrating this idea in the presentation of our research goal presented in the introduction.

Comment 5: It could be contribution if authors explain adaptation from Highhouse et al. (2003) results.

We thank reviewer 1 suggestion, which we followed by introducing the “Data Analysis Procedure” a paragraph explaining the process of all scales translation and adaptation into Portuguese. In addition, we also added the scales adaptation as one of our study contributions.

Comment 6: I recommend to check formatting of the references in the list of the references according to the journal format

Because we added new references, we revised the formatting of the references in the manuscript and, as suggested by reviewer 1, in the list of the references.

In closing, we would like to thank the Editor for the opportunity to reformulate and send a new version of our manuscript and the Reviewers again for their comments. We hope that we have dealt with the Reviewers’ suggestions satisfactorily and made all the adjustments requested by reviewers, both in form and substance.

Yours sincerely,

On behalf of my co-authors,

Reviewer 2 Report

The research topic is interesting, and the topics and conclusions have practical value, but I think it would be perfect if I could add the following suggestions:

  1. Please include the latest literature in the introduction explaining why "green human resource management" is sustainable? Although mentioned in the literature review, it is recommended to directly emphasize research motivation in the introduction
  2.  Please add the background of "green human resources" in the current company market in the introduction
  3. Please use up-to-date literature to fill research gaps (academic, industrial, or both)
  4. Please supplement the entire latest literature (try to be in the past five years)
  5. Intentions are derived from the theory of planned behavior. Please further supplement the relevant overview of the theory

Author Response

We are very thankfull for all reviwer 2 interesting insights.

Comment 1: Please include the latest literature in the introduction explaining why "green human resource management" is sustainable? Although mentioned in the literature review, it is recommended to directly emphasize research motivation in the introduction. Please add the background of "green human resources" in the current company market in the introduction

We thank reviewer 2 for his/her comments regarding the need to in-depth the information in the introduction regarding green human resources management. In line with reviewer 1 first comment, we decided to reorganize the beginning of the introduction, emphasizing and narrowing all related constructs regarding our work. That said, we started by explaining sustainable development and its pillars through the triple bottom line (TBL) perspective (as suggested by reviewer 1). Then, we narrowed our approach to the organizational setting, referring, for instance, that TBL is applied in different organizations and sectors. Within organizations, the sustainable awareness is increasing, and therefore there is as increased knowledge of how different areas and departments can become more sustainable. Narrowing to HR, we presented the concept of Green HRM, its definition, and why we decided to frame our work into that specific concept. To finalize, we emphasized Green HRM as the dominant cluster of Sustainable HRM literature (in Kainzbauer and colleagues' (2021) words), justifying why we centered our research goal on the environmental pillar of TBL.

Comment 2: Please use up-to-date literature to fill research gaps (academic, industrial, or both). Please supplement the entire latest literature (try to be in the past five years)

We appreciate reviewer 2 contributions and added recent literature related to our research goal. You can find those new references at the end of this document.

Comment 3: Intentions are derived from the theory of planned behavior. Please further supplement the relevant overview of the theory.

We thank reviewer 2 for his/her suggestions. We added in the theoretical revision a reference to the theory of planned behavior as a mechanism to understand how intentions to apply may lead to real formalization of the application.
