Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

Title: It’s better to avoid abbreviations / acronyms in title

Introduction:

·       Describe PDSIM, how it can help to improve responses to crises and mitigate negative effects of  outbreak/ pandemic

·       Clearly describe General and Specific objectives of the study

Materials and Methods:

·       This section needs improvement, describe study population, agent in PDSIM represents one person

·       Explain the properties of the population and analysis of problem

Results and discussion:

·       Summarize important findings obtained through simulation and compare the disease spread within the populations

Conclusion:

·       Restate your research problem, summarize the main points and state the significance of your results

·       Mention the limitation of your study

This is a well written paper. A minor concern is, where is section 1.2?

While the article is interesting, it needs numerous improvements. I have listed the most important ones below:

 (1) The introduction is too general (especially lines 29-57). Please add more publications to support your claims.

 (2) Verse 236 - please add how many types of localizations there are in model.

 (3) Chapter 3.3.2 - please describe the hierarchical modeling in more detail (e.g. how many groups are there at the Urban zone level, how many at the commercial sector level, etc.). Maybe add a table with these numeric values?

 (4) Chapter 3.6.2 - can I ask for a more detailed description (this seems too general to me)?

 (5) Chapter 5 - I miss in this chapter a clear articulation of the limitations of using the PDSIM model (and there are such)
