Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

Manuscript entitled  Characteristic of the Molecular Weight-fractions of Soil Organic 2 Matter from Calcareous Soil and Yellow Soil  is well written and described the research findings in a food way.  Fur better clarity,  the authors   should give the  response to the following commends

1,In  introduction part, the authors provide the  importance of extraction  methods

2.How the authors tested stability of  the extracted HA?

3. Discuss the results with  previous findings

Reviewer 2 Report

Dear authors,

First of all, I would like to note the contribution of the authors regarding the knowledge of some fractions of the humus of some calcareous and acidic soils. I believe that the results of these studies are useful in the more detailed knowledge of the properties of humic acids.

The title of the paper " Characteristic of Molecular Weight-fractions of Soil Organic Matter from Calcareous Soil and Yellow Soil" is in accordance with the content of the manuscript.

The abstract of the work is well designed, and the keywords allow this work to be easily accessed and found in the current registers or indexes.

In the introduction, a concise presentation is made regarding the source of humus in the soil, the estimated amount of carbon sequestered in the soil, the stability and long persistence of the humic fractions, such as the fact that the great diversity of humus constituents is not fully known, in the multitude of very different soils, invoking representative bibliographic sources and motivating the importance of the research carried out.

The work methodology and analysis methods correspond to these studies and are clearly and well reproduced in section 2 "Materials and Methods". I would suggest that in this section more details be provided regarding the soils and soil samples taken, since the range of values of some characteristics of the multitude of yellow and calcareous soils is very extensive.

I noted and appreciated the clear, well-argued and convincing presentation of some characteristics of humic acids resulting from the investigations undertaken with modern and efficient methods.

The conclusions resulting from the research carried out are well formulated and highlight an in-depth knowledge by the authors of this manuscript of the detailed aspects of Soil Chemistry.

I note that the figures made are suggestive and of good quality. The paper was written in standard, grammatically correct English and therefore I think that it can be published in the prestigious journal "Sustainability".
