Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

1. The section Abstract, while the population density is negatively  correlated with the number of illegal dumping generations, according to the general idea, the greater the population density, the more illegal garbage dumping.

2. In this paper, I agree with this opinion “Therefore, the more public facilities unit, the less illegal waste dumping will be”.

In general, the intention of this paper is very good, with good engineering practice significance. At the same time, there is no problem elsewhere in the manuscript. It is recommended to verify whether the data collection is completely correct, and then confirm whether the view in the summary is correct.

Reviewer 2 Report

Some minor revisions are given. Conclusion section may be improved.

- In Table 3, what does it mean "waste treated"? Recycled or what? Should be clarified.

- In Table 3, in the "waste generated" line, the number 4307,49.75 should be corrected.

- Same table, a line showing waste amount per capita per day may be given additionally.

- Same table: it seems that waste generated per year increases and decreases with time, despite the population increases continuously. what could be the reason for this?

- When we compare the actual map (Fig. 1) with with Fig. 2 (OLS Map) and Fig. 3 (GWR Map), we see that similarity between Fig.1 and Fig. 2 is higher than Fig.1 and Fig. 3 (look at the western and northern sections). But it is said that the GWR model  has a better result compared to the OLS model. Should be clarified.

Reviewer 3 Report

Thank you for your contribution. However, there are some comments which need to be addressed as follows:

1) In lines 68-69 where you stated (Thus, determining the number of illegal wastes 68 dumped is a challenging task), support this claim by reference. Please use this reference (An investigation into solid waste problem in the Egyptian construction industry: A mini-review).

2) You need to clearly name section 3.1. It should not be named (subsection).

3) Discussion and conclusion cannot be combined. Please separate each of them in a separate section.

4) There should be a separate section for research implications as you have stated clearly in your manuscript that you will introduce it.

5) There should be a whole section for conclusion and recommendations.

Reviewer 4 Report

This manuscript analyzes the factors affecting illegal waste dumping practices. To do this, he uses spatial regression analysis.

The manuscript is interesting, however I suggest:

Extend the literature review

Use a flowchart to clarify the methodology

Separate discussion and conclusions

Extend the discussion, including other research on the topic.

Dear authors, thank you for considering my suggestions.

I consider that the manuscript can be published in the new version.
