- The MedDiet demonstrated the most consistent cognitive benefits, including improved memory and processing speed, and likely has the potential for delaying cognitive aging by up to 3.5 years.
- Practical and cost-effective strategies to support brain health include increasing omega-3 intake from canned fish and seeds, consuming more fruits, vegetables, and whole grains, and reducing ultra-processed foods and refined grains.
- This review contributes to the ABCDS brain health framework by focusing on “D” for Diet—highlighting nutrition as a modifiable lifestyle factor that directly and indirectly supports brain, cardiovascular, and mental health.
