Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

This study is a valuable contribution in making taxonomy and the challenge of describing species in a difficult group of organisms more digitally tractable and machine readable. By tying the Taxon Hypothesis paradigm to existing taxonomic backbones, the concept is made operational and accessible for users. The study is comprehensive with novel angels for delimiting species and/ or taxon hypotheses.

I only found a minor correction in line 314: the rules set by the relevant nomenclatural code.

Reviewer 2 Report

Manuscrypt entitled The taxon hypothesis paradigm – on the unambiguous detection and communication of taxa Although the work does not concern the biology, ecology or genetics of microorganisms, it is closely related to them, as it concerns the methodology related to the processing and interpretation of data. The manuscrypt helps to better understand the imperfections of molecular methods as a tool describing species diversity and what mechanisms influence the identification of taxa, e.g. different SH value. The results of the moanuscrypt are presented clearly. Engravings are attractive but, however, suggest that the ryc.3 will be better to smash the larger the figures, because in this form are not very clear, especially since the publication there are no restrictions on the volume of the sheet.  I'm not bioinformatik, but I am convinced that this manuscrypt has a big potential for future citations. Especially in relation to the comments of reviewers related to the methodology used in the manuscrypt (using databases, depositing sequences etc.).
