Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

The paper considers calibration of rotating encoders by the angle shift method.
The title realistically represents the research conducted in the paper. The introduction is fine, the models and presended concept also.
What software was used for chart modeling?
Which fitting model was used in Figure 9?
The resolution of Figures 1 and 2 is not satisfactory. Black and white images can be in color if it is not associated with additional printing costs. Tables and figures lack sources, even if it's your own research. However, these are only cosmetic problems and it seems that the data processing was done correctly and in the right way.

The paper considers calibration of rotating encoders by the angle shift method.

The title realistically represents the research conducted in the paper. The introduction is fine, the models and presended concept also.

Point 1:

What software was used for chart modeling?

Response 1:

We use Microsoft Excel to do the chart modeling.

Point 2:

Which fitting model was used in Figure 9?

Response 2:

We use least square as the fitting methode. The curve fitting function is α(θ )=A*sin(2*θ +B)+U(fitting).

Point 3:

The resolution of Figures 1 and 2 is not satisfactory. Black and white images can be in color if it is not associated with additional printing costs. Tables and figures lack sources, even if it's your own research. However, these are only cosmetic problems and it seems that the data processing was done correctly and in the right way.

Response 3:

We are sorry for the quality of some figures. After carefully corrections, we modify the figures 1, 2, 5 and 8 in color. We add reference sources for figures 3 and 10.

Reviewer 2 Report

The presented calibration method seems to be a little bit elaborate for practical use. How would you classify the presented method in comparison to traditional calibration methods?

Author Response

Point 1:

The presented calibration method seems to be a little bit elaborate for practical use. How would you classify the presented method in comparison to traditional calibration methods?

Response 1:

We propose a new shift-angle method using the same setup as the traditional method. However, the new method can measure smaller than the pitch angle of the polygon, which is the measurement limitation of the traditional method.
