Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

The review comments for the manuscript, 'Study on the Energy Efficiency Improvement and Operation Optimization of a Solar Water Heating System', are given below,

1. The authors presented a reformed solar water heating system. The idea is good but not the overall the presentation. It needs to be improved a lot.

2. Introduction section must be improved with few more literature. I suggest the following, 10.1016/j.desal.2017.11.007, 10.1016/j.enconman.2018.05.011.

3. Add the organization of the manuscript at the end of Introduction section.

4. Typos and grammatical errors are there and it must be checked.

5. English also to be improved with the help of native English speaker.

6. Why do not the authors add a hardware implementation of the work since it is funded? Also it will help the reviewers to check the feasibility.

7. Uncertainty analysis is given in general. It must be given specific for each instrument, say temperature sensor, pyranometer etc.,

8. Add error analysis in the graphs.

9. Abstract and conclusion must be precise and brief.

Reviewer 2 Report

The article is original, interesting for readers and broadens the knowledge of hot water preparation systems using solar collector installations cooperating with air heat pumps. The title of the article corresponds to its content. The abstract shows the purpose of this work satisfactorily.

The introduction is closely related to the topic of the work, but the latest literature is from 2018, hence my suggestion to possibly supplement the literature review with the latest items from 2020-2022.

The work is well organized. The test method is clearly described and explained. The conclusions from the research are sufficient, the profitability of the proposed modernization of hot water installations has been confirmed.

Reviewer 3 Report

It is believed that the article concerns a very interesting and important topic like the energy performance of buildings.

The role of the  system for sanitary water   in the building  during different seasons  is one the aspects very important both as a relationship with  systems plant, and for energy needs and the comfort of the people.

However, it is believed that the choices made that led to the configuration of the various systems must be better justified

Finally, the Bibbliography both at the general level that in the introductory part, and in the various chaptersmust be integrated.

In this regard, It is suggested to the authors to insert in the introduction some references for example: Potential for building Façade-integrated solar thermal collectors in a highly urbanized context-

https://doi.org/10.3390/en13215801 and "Life cycle energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions of urban residential buildings in Guangzhou city" http://dx.doi.org/10.1016/j.jclepro.2018.05.124.

beyond at the International standards for the project

Final comment

The work deals with an interesting and current topic.

Next at the changes required the work is believed to be publishable.
