Farrokhad et al. provided an interesting study regarding fracture toughnes. The authors have performed substantial work, and minor revision is suggested at this stage. Detailed comments are listed below.
1. Kindly include more quantitative results in the abstract part so the readers can quickly grasp the
2. For the introduction part, kindly increase the diversity of regarding fracture about toughness, also other properties of fracture, the article below is suggested to be consulted as a start. Permeability measurement of the fracture-matrix system with 3D embedded discrete fracture model. Petroleum Science 2022.
3. Kindly improve the image resolution in Fig. 1.
4. Kindly add a scale bar in Fig. 2.
5. For fig 3, too much content; it is suggested to add a more concise setup or schematic.

The experiment was carried out correctly. the statistical study is very nice.
The experimental studies are well programmed. I particularly like the statistical processing of the results. The correlation table is presented in a very interesting way. A large research sample gives credibility to the results.
I have no other comments.
