Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

This topic is very interesting and will play an important role to understand Industry 4.0 and Lean Six Sigma integration. However, minor recommendations need to improve before going into publication.

Line 73: Authors state this research addresses four questions; however, they discuss only 3 Questions in the subsequent lines. Authors need to address this ambiguity.

Fig. 1 x-axis is confusing; please revise it. Reduce the size of the text or make the text vertical.

The Snowball technique must be explained in 2-3 lines in the methodology section to provide a better understanding for readers.

Reviewer 2 Report

Thank you very much for giving me the opportunity to review this paper. This research provides a systematic literature review (SLR) of research on I4.0 and LSS integration. In my understanding, this is a very promising manuscript which used five database platforms and included seventy-two articles providing state-of-the-art knowledge on the topic, focusing on the barriers and enablers of integration.

First, the introduction is comprehensive, but it needs to lay out more clearly what the gap in the literature is. This gap can be articulated before each of the research questions.

Second, it seems the paper has relied a lot on industry 4.0 research papers, which is understandable considering the emergence of various technologies in service innovations. Thus, it becomes plausible for the authors to draw the distinction between general industry 4.0 technology and industry 4.0 technology in Lean Six 10 Sigma. You have tried to combine these two in section 2.3 which can be stronger with some additional references from existing literature.

Third, there are some paragraphs that are too small, and it is better to combine some of these paragraphs. For example, please see paragraphs- 2, 4 and 5 of your introduction section.

Fourth, please justify theoretical contributions using relevant references and clearly show how they are extending LSS theories. Study findings could be used to back them up. Similarly, practical findings can use industry examples to validate research findings.
