An Augmented Reality Children’s Book Edutainment through Participatory Content Creation and Promotion Based on the Pastoral Life of Psiloritisâ€
Round 1
Reviewer 1 Report
Dear authors, I congratulate them because I really liked their work on augmented reality in educational contexts with children. I believe that his work provides a very important experience, and that the scientific community should know.
However, I think they should cite the following reference, since it provides very relevant conclusions about the perceptions that teachers have about the use of augmented reality in educational contexts:
Román-Graván, P.; Ballesteros-Regaña, C.; & Hervás-Gómez, C. (2016). Perceptions of future primary school teachers on the use of augmented reality in educational contexts. Pages 101-119. In: Interactive experiences with augmented reality in classrooms. Editorial Octaedro. 2016. ISBN 978-84-9921-867-0.
The most important conclusions were:
- Interaction in the classroom with augmented reality experiences promotes new teaching-learning methodologies.
- Managing augmented reality applications favors technological skills related to the use of ICT.
- With a mobile phone you can work with augmented reality.
- With a tablet you can also work on augmented reality, an item that reached the highest average score of all those made in the pretest, with 4.64 points out of 5.00.
- The strategies designed for the use of AR and other technologies positively influence the information processing capacities of students.
- New tasks are proposed that are motivating and allow to achieve the objectives proposed in the classroom.
- The use of augmented reality facilitates and increases the educational use of the itineraries both in school outings, museums, exhibitions, etc. as within the classroom itself.
- Its use in simulations allows at least in the initial phases of learning interesting features such as ease, availability, immediacy, safety in practice, learning by trial and error, cost reduction, etc.
- AR allows us to “manipulate” with our hands from a sculpture to a painting, passing through a plant, a dinosaur, a building, etc. a whole world within reach of a camera.
- Much expectation has been created for using AR in education in general.
- Students feel committed to following the project and exploring new uses in various subjects.
The authors must review all the bibliographic citations, and change them all because they have put the first name and then the last name, and it must be the opposite: first the last name and then the initial of the first name. Authors must remove the "and" in the last author. In summary, the authors have not followed the APA citation rule and must change all the citations at the end of the text, in the References section.
Congratulations on your paper. It must be published.

Reviewer 2 Report
The paper, dealing with the development of an augmented reality children’s book, is well written and scientifically sound, and deserves publication in this journal. My (more or less) minor remarks are:
- Some figures are not referred in the text and it's somewhat unclear what is the role of them (e.g., figure 1, figure 4)
- I think that section 2 could be slimmer. There are a lot of details on the various background aspects of the project, although not all the these were actually implemented.
- Section 3 does not give a conclusion for the state of the art that is presented here. What is the research gap that this study fulfills? It seems that the authors try to say something in the first paragraph, but it lacks clarity. This is approached in more detail only in the Conclusions.
- Minor text revisions (e.g. "we concluded that Unity3D in combination with the addition of Vuforia").
- Citations should to be revised (e.g. [6] is incomplete).
