Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

In this work, the authors propose the novel mathematical model and Artificial Bee Colony Algorithm (ABC) combined with Pareto-based Approach to solve the single-container loading problems. The goal is to fit a set of boxes with a strongly heterogeneous boxes into a container with a specific dimension to minimize the broken space and maximize profits.

Unfortunately, the organizational structure of the paper is disorganized or even incomplete. It is suggested to revise and submit it again.

Reviewer 2 Report

The article discusses the container shortage crisis faced by the freight forwarding industry and how companies have had to implement adaptive measures to maintain operational efficiency. A novel mathematical model and Artificial Bee Colony Algorithm (ABC) combined with a Pareto-based Approach is proposed to solve the single-container loading problems in a way that minimizes broken space and maximizes profits. The results suggest that the proposed algorithm is effective in solving real-world single-container loading problems for freight forwarding companies. The study's reliability and validity the findings must be ensured by addressing certain concerns, despite its interesting coverage of multiple research fields.

1.     To enhance the clarity of the findings, it is suggested to explicitly mention the names of the comparative methods used to evaluate the proposed algorithm in the abstract. Additionally, providing specific performance metrics with statistical numbers can improve the presentation of the results.

2.     “This article presents the advantages of using the Artificial Bee Colony Algorithm with a Pareto-based Approach for solving NP-Hard problems such as the single container loading problem.” What is the purpose of writing this text before the abstract?

3.     This research relevant to the rotation of boxes into containers is important for improving the efficiency and effectiveness of shipping, reducing transportation costs, and minimizing environmental impact.” rewrite the second objective with respect to the underlined problem solved (lines 68 and 69).

4.     I suggest either adding a few relevant similar works in the introduction or introducing a separate section for literature review to set the problem background of the presented work.

5.     Figure 1 is missing.

6.     Section number is missing for “Experiment C”.

7.     In the results section, please specify the highest values obtained by the functions described in Tables 6 to 8, as well as the most significant improvements achieved as presented in Tables 10 to 14. Additionally, please include statistical analyses to support the results.

8.     Rename “Section 6” to “Conclusion” and future direction in conclusion.

9.     The manuscript would benefit from improvements in academic writing style and should be thoroughly checked for any typographical or grammatical errors.

10.  Consider adding a few latest related articles in the introduction/literature section to set the background of your work between 2020 to 2023 including the given below.

The paper propsoes artificial bee colony algorithm with pareto-based approach  for multi-objective three-dimensional single container loading Problems. (1) Pareto  has been a very classic optimization performance improvement mode for optimization analysis. (2) In the literature section, there has been a review on the packing problem. Adding a review on heuristic algorithms for optimization problems, and other optimization reviews similar to the knapsack problem. (3) In the experiment section, there has been case analysis, and it is recommended to use an open dataset for comparative analysis.

Round 2

Reviewer 3 Report

The artificial bee colony algorithm with pareto-based approach  for multi-objective problems is a very classic optimization method. The paper should provide convincing cases and compare them with typical solving algorithms to verify their effectiveness.
