Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

This systematic review focuses on an important and actual topic.

In general, the manuscript is well structured and written. There are small issues regarding English to be corrected. In the discussion the authors refer to periodontitis (lines 350 and 361) and periodontal tissues when I think they mean mucositis and peri-implant tissues.Otherwise, there are no major flaws to point out.

I think the article will be interesting for the readers and it is ready to be published after minor corrections

  1. In the discussion, the authors refer to periodontitis (lines 350 and 361) and periodontal tissues when I think they mean mucositis and peri-implant tissues.

Authors: This was a writing error, and has been replaced in the text (lines 350 and 361) for mucositis and peri-implant tissue.

Reviewer 2 Report

This is an interesting manuscript. Very well written. The studies included ranged from 3-6 months for evaluation of clinical parameters. I have one suggestion that the long term use of probiotics as an adjunct to the conventional treatment of peri implant mucositis may be discussed!. Furthermore the influence of routine practices of oral hygiene measures should be emphasized.

Suggestion:

Furthermore the influence of routine practices of oral hygiene measures should be emphasized.

Authors: Dear reviewer, thank you for the suggestion. We have added a new paragraph to the discussion.

Line 399-403: In addition, the long-term use of probiotics as an adjuvant to conventional treatment for peri-implant mucositis can assist in reducing inflammation and controlling disease progression. Because probiotics can modulate the inflammatory response [18]. However, the effectiveness of the treatment will also depend on the level of oral hygiene since good oral hygiene is essential for maintaining oral health [33].

All the results found in this systematic review were also included in the main text, considering that readers often overlook supplementary material. In this way, we aim to ensure that the text is clear and explanatory, providing a comprehensive understanding of the results.
