Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

Paper deals with very populous countries, which were not thoroughly analysed.

Can be a contribution to the journal, if improved and corrected.

What are the sources of pictures used in Fifs? If not the original development from the authors they should be referenced and if appropriate copyright transfer forms provided.

A similar comment can be made for Tables.

Would you use ISO SI symbols as kg, t, t/d,

daily 1300-kilometres should be 1,300 km/d

CO2 - 2 should be in subscript

etc

I have a problem when the authors from Lahore are praising Lahore as a clean city - is really this classification valid when worldwide cities are compared?

A wider comparison should be included and special suggestions for future development assessed and included in the conclusions.

How precise are data used, for MSW it has been usually a problem, how much they are fluctuating during the various seasons?

Reviewer 2 Report

The manuscript is interesting since its focus in on WM strategies in developing countries coupled with data with historical evolution.

Anyway, the authors should improve the novelty of the study, the methodological approach and obtained results.

The methodological approach could be inserted a scheme at beginning of the manuscript, reporting type of utilised data and source, modelling approach ì, obtained results and future perspective.

Obtained results should be reported in the abstract, where authors can better insert the scientific contribution of the work.
