Effect of Particle Trap on Motion Characteristics of Metal Particles in AC GILs and Parameter Optimization
Round 1
Reviewer 1 Report
The specific of the paper (gas-insulated transmission lines - GITL or GIL) is not something usual for Coatings specialists. Please explain more what is a GIL, using graphic representations eventually. Figure 1 should mention the main elements of a GIL and the working principle must be detailed.
The references section was written without specifying the names of the authors. In this case, I cannot check its correctness and I cannot recommend other papers.
The aim of the paper is not clearly presented. What does "less study" on AC means? The novelty of the paper has to be assessed.
Conclusion number (1) seems to express some antagonist ideas and ought to be reevaluated.
The efficiency of the proposed optimized solution (50.8%) must be compared with results from the literature.

The work deals with the issue of metal particle contamination in GILs.
- It looks like the model is planar… but why not axisymmetric due to the cylindrical symmetry of the device?
- How was the simulation step computed?
- What numerical method is used to integrate the particles trajectories?
9: for particle suppression
10,12: please, use the article “a” before trap when required
11: a dynamic model (unless it is the only possible one…)
18,19: “the capture rate firstly increases and then…” what is the word firstly refer to? The time of an experiment/simulation? The phrase is a bit ambiguous, and maybe could be rephrased
24: gas insulated transmission lines… are a kind of…
26: significant advantages compared to…?
31: to SF6
39: better suppress metal particles…
47: insulators?
77: were
88: Do authors mean something like “the amount of charge carried by a spherical metal particle…”?
91: which are equal to… what about the units for the dielectric constant?
Figure 1: it is quite hard to understand what is axis y, please zoom on the cartesian axes
101: please, provide a reference for the electrostatic correction coefficient
103: units
112: velocities
117: are given by…
Finally, please make sure to revise grammar and syntax of the whole work.

In this paper, the motion model of particles under AC is established, and the motion characteristics of particles in front of the trap are studied. So this paper has experimental and modelling in the paper and well explains the results.
The subscripts of CO2 should be fixed. Line 32
The Background should be expanded with the specific line in references 8-10. (Line 36) This will be better context on the field (like in Referenc 12 – 21 where is well done)
Figure 1 has no scale.
Table 1 Line 99
Be nice to number the equations (even with the table)
Figure 6 – some scale on the figure. What is the scale?
Figure 9 – labels on the photo please (and it small to see)
Figure 11 has a nice simulation flow and is easy to understand.
Figure 13 and (c) and (d) – please put in the English scale.
