Comments and Suggestions for Authors

1. Fig.2 (a) and (b) require the higher magnification images to show the lamellar structure with a number of holes inside the coatings.

2. It was not confirmed from the SEM images that the grain refinement is due to the precipitated phase 316 Al5Y3O12. TEM study is required to figure out the size of the of the precipitates. Further, what is the grain size of the precipitates formed? What is the phase evolution before laser remelting through XRD measurement?

3. The authors need to calculate the grain size from the Scherrer's formula.

4. Nanoindentation: What is the hardness measured before laser remelting?

5. Introduction: This section should be more strengthened by adding some more recent articles based on laser remelting, such as Ghosh et al. (Enabling plastic co-deformation of disparate phases in a laser rapid solidified Sr-modified Al–Si eutectic through partial-dislocation-mediated-plasticity in Si). This paper should be discussed in the introduction regarding the microstructure modification through laser remelting.

Comments and Suggestions for Authors

Dear Authors,

see comments below.

1) What is the distribution of nanosized Al 2O 3 and at what limiting value does the second phase begin to form?

2) As a rule in materials science, the second phase is a by-product and leads to irreversible deterioration of physicochemical and mechanical properties. Is the process and rate of formation of the second phase controllable in your case?

3) The last columns of Figures 9, 12, 15 are completely black squares and do not provide information to readers.

Comments and Suggestions for Authors

The article by Qingyu Li et al. presents a study of FeCrAlY-Al2O3 composite coatings applied by plasma spraying and laser remelting on F/M steel. The microstructure, mechanical and corrosion properties depending on the content of nanoaluminium Al2O3 have been studied. The positive effect of the nanoaluminium additive on mechanical and corrosion properties is shown. The introduction presents current work in this area. The list of links corresponds to the content of the work. There are comments on the structure of the presentation of the results: 1. It is necessary to match the numbers of the drawings and the order of their mention in the text of the article. Figure 3 is mentioned earlier than Figure 1. 2. A large number of small drawings combined into one should be placed in the section – additional information. 3. It is necessary to justify the choice of a temperature of 500-600 degrees for corrosion research. 4. The work is a report on the scientific work done, it is necessary to present the assumptions or the idea of the study. To justify the choice of components and the content of additives in the form of nanoaluminium, chromium, aluminum.
