Cover Story: The biostimulant effects of two humic-like substances obtained from municipal biowastes on Orange Jasmine potted plants were compared with those provided by a commercial leonardite-based HLS. The application of both biowaste-derived HLS resulted in higher (and faster) growth and ornamental quality traits than those obtained with the commercial product, due to a better nutritional status, higher leaf chlorophylls content, and photosynthetic activity of plants treated with these alternative HLS. These outcomes suggest that biowaste recycling is a sustainable source of biostimulants alternative to agro-chemicals and fossil-based products. View this paper
