This is an interesting work devoted to considering bouncing cosmological models in F(R, G) theory.  Interesting behaviors of energy conditions, geometric parameters, energy density, and EoS parameters, Hubble parameters, deceleration parameters for two bouncing scale factors are demonstrated.  The work is very well written. But some clarifications are needed.

1) The work has some misspellings and minor checks are required.
2) Is there any fundamental physical reason why the form of F(R, G) gravity takes the quadratic form?

Work can be formally accepted for publication in the journal Universe if the authors would fully reply to the above points.

Reviewer 3 Report

In the article the authors study F(R,G) gravity of the special kind. Study is devoted to the bouncing behavior of the model with effective perfect fluid as the sourse. The article is scientifically sound and the result can be checked using presented material. In spite of overloading of few formulae (10-14) they gave graphical explanations what gives the readers clear understanding of the result.

Some remarks: 1) It needs to give argumentation (comparision with earlier results) for the choice of scalar factor a(t) on lines 97, 171; 2) It is of interest to see the trace equation for (6)-(7); 3) in [42], it needs to provide by the title of the article; 4) line 68. It whould be bette to start new paragraph from "The paper..."; 5) line 69. Better to write Sec. 2; 6) after (3) better to start without blank; 6) check line 81; 7) after (21) put dot.
