Cover Story: This survey–study explored treatment patterns, barriers, and preferences among school-aged students (n = 332) using the Remote Electrical Neuromodulation (REN) wearable device, an FDA-cleared device for acute and/or preventive treatment of migraine for ages 8+. Following REN prescription, the portion of students who avoid treatment at school was reduced by half. Most common treatment barriers were the need to leave class to go to the nurse and stigma. Top reasons for preferring to treat with REN at school address these barriers, with no need to attend the nurse’s office and discrete treatment. The study underscores challenges of migraine management at school, highlighting REN’s role in empowering students to manage their migraine independently and discreetly to avoid class and social disruption, advocating for REN as a first-line treatment.
