Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

I would like to thank the Authors for presenting interesting, application optimization research. The patented solution the hydrolysis of cellulose to glucose using zinc chloride (ZnCl2) presented in the manuscript process-1054101 approach to implementation and optimization of the new one is appropriate. Research and optimization works concern the mathematical technique for designing a multistage membrane separation system. The manuscript content fully conforms to the Processes journal profiles.

The Authors clearly and comprehensively presented the background, the need and inspiration for the optimization work carried out. They also correctly identified the Problem statement. The methodology of the conducted research is correct and the results are presented in an appropriate manner.

The manuscript contains valuable information for those interested in a comprehensive solution of the new, patented technology analyzed here. The conclusions correspond to the results obtained and are written accordingly.

Congratulations!

Comments:

  1. Authors should supplement the manuscript with the discussion chapter, where they will compare the applied optimization method and confront the work of other authors.
  2. The literature used in the manuscript is largely out of date. Please refer to the current items in the discussion chapter.
  3. A graphic abstract would be highly recommended.
