Cover Story: Home energy management systems (HEMS) require an accurate forecast of the electric power produced by photo-voltaic installations. If prective control algorithms are used in HEMS, this accurate forecast must be available for a specified prediction horizon (PH). By using historic data of the electric power generated, weather data and house occupation, multi-objective evolutionary algorithm designed shallow neural networks achieve a superior forecasting performance than other current modeling techniques, including deep learning models.
