1. Conference Overview
The ICAMS-II and ECNAD conference was held on 15–16 March 2023 at the Al Riyadh Auditorium for Celebrations and Activities at Al-Azhar University–Gaza (AUG), Gaza Strip, Palestine.
The conference schedule was filled with exhilarating and innovative content, where distinguished experts and scholars in applied medical sciences exchanged the most recent scholarly discoveries. Alongside talks from globally acclaimed guest speakers, there were opportunities for both networking and engaging in professional interactions.
Consequently, conference attendees cultivated fresh concepts and partnerships aimed at expediting the application of theory into real-world scenarios across all conference themes. The event encompassed five primary topics: clinical nutrition, laboratory medicine, medical imaging, nursing, and public health, as well as physical therapy and rehabilitation. Simultaneously occurring were two parallel events: ICAMS-II and ECNAD, overseen by national and international scientific panels. These Committees assessed all submitted abstracts, determining their suitability for inclusion based on their alignment with specific specialities and themes.
ICAMS-II and ECNAD are significant events that emerged from Palestine, more precisely from the Gaza Strip. This region seeks increased opportunities for global engagement across diverse scientific domains, aiming to advance their medical and health-related research perspectives. ICAMS-II represents the follow-up to the prosperous ICAMS 2017 event within applied medical sciences. Meanwhile, ECNAD is the culminating initiative of the EU-supported project (Erasmus +) titled “Enhancement of Clinical Nutrition and Dietetic Practice in Palestine.”
The ECNAD project’s conference aligns with the project’s Dissemination plan, a strategy collectively endorsed by the consortium members. The project of the Enhancement of Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics Practice in Palestine (ECNAD)—funded by ERASMUS +—aimed to minimize the gap between academia and clinical nutrition practice in the health field, enable the transfer of knowledge and skills to the local health workforce, increase community awareness of nutrition, and shift stakeholders’ attention to clinical nutrition as a component of the healthcare process. The ECNAD consortium partner institutes were Al-Azhar University–Gaza (AUG) from Palestine, Palestine Technical College (PTC) from Palestine, Hebron University (HU) from Palestine, University of Ruse (RU) from Bulgaria, Wyzsza Szkota Biznesu I Nauk O Zdrowiu (WSBiNoZ) from Poland, and URI-Soča from Slovenia.
