With Lofty Goals and Familiar Perspectives, Humans Begins

The world is confronted by problems that are multi- and interdisciplinary, global, and complex. Because the human aspects of these problems are multifaceted [1], there has never been a greater need for holistic, relativistic, and comparative perspectives—the hallmarks of anthropology [2].

In a world viewed through these perspectives, anthropologists [3] have explored our past, sought—occasionally struggling—to appreciate differences in others, and, through comparative methods, attempted to better understand what it means to be human—striving not only to comprehend the forces that shaped our past and drive the present, but even attempting to glimpse the future, hoping to find better paths ahead [4].

Humans (ISSN 2673-9461) is an open access academic journal publishing rigorously peer-reviewed papers [5] on subjects of anthropological interest (cultural, linguistic, archaeological, biological) that are either scientific or humanistic in design. Like the discipline of anthropology, the journal, Humans, strives to be international and cross-disciplinary in scope.

We seek high-quality work that showcases anthropological methods/perspectives applied to traditional and non-traditional questions. Our goal, while admittedly lofty, is to be recognized for publishing works demonstrating novel applications of anthropology as well as applications novel to anthropology, and for providing fora for insightful, cogent, and civil discussions of contentious issues.

We accept reviews, regular research papers, commentaries, and short notes. There is no length restriction on submissions.
