Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The study of equine viral diseases has been a long-standing interest of veterinarians, horse breeders, and those engaged in horse sport and competitions worldwide. While vaccination and prevention strategies have been effective in addressing some of these diseases, others, both old and new, have emerged due to the international trade of horses or vectors spread due to climate change.

Furthermore, many of these diseases have zoonotic potential, which involves the development of new anti-epizootic and anti-epidemiological regimes. In many cases, there is a need for improved diagnostic methods and more effective forms of surveillance.

We are pleased to invite you to submit articles describing and discussing the latest data on all aspects of equine viral diseases, with particular emphasis on research on their preventive management strategies.

In this Special Issue, original research articles and reviews are welcome. Research areas may include (but are not limited to) the following:

  • Clinical cases of equine viruses outbreaks;
  • Diagnostic methods;
  • Antiviral drug preparations;
  • Natural methods for disease prevention;
  • Preventive management strategies;
  • Equine viruses phylogenetic studies.
