Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

“Today's Trends in Biomedical Technology and Regenerative Medicine” aims to highlight the latest innovations and research advancements at the intersection of engineering, biology, and medicine. This collection will explore cutting-edge developments in transformative stem cell biology, tissue engineering, biomaterials, and clinical findings for improving medical treatments and healthcare delivery. Key topics include advanced biomaterials for tissue regeneration, 3D bioprinting, medical devices, drug delivery systems, and other relevant technologies that specifically and directly contribute to tissue repair and regeneration. The issue will also cover recent breakthroughs in stem cell technologies, organoid generation, and biofabrication for restoring damaged tissues and organs. Additionally, emphasis will be placed on novel biocompatible scaffolds, mechanobiological modeling, and bioactive hydrogels to improve therapeutic outcomes.

This special issue invites contributions that explore the interdisciplinary collaboration between biomedical Technology and regenerative medicine, focusing on translational research that bridges laboratory discoveries to clinical applications. Researchers are encouraged to submit original articles, reviews, and case studies demonstrating how these innovations shape regenerative medicine's future and contribute to personalized healthcare solutions. The issue will provide a platform for novel strategies to tackle the challenges in tissue repair, organ regeneration, and the development of next-generation medical therapies.

We are excited to invite you to contribute to this Special Issue entitled "Today's Trends in Biomedical Technology and Regenerative Medicine”. Organ shortages, chronic illness and injuries, the requirement for more effective personalized medicine, and the growing aging population highlight a few critical needs that we have dedicated our professional lives to meet as we advance regenerative medicine. We hope to bring together experts in the field of tissue engineering and regenerative medicine to present and discuss new research findings and current trends in this special issue, which will publish original research papers, review papers, and clinical case reports on the following topics:

  • Stem cell biology, including self-renewal, differentiation, and pre-clinical and clinical development
  • Advanced biomaterials, including polymers and scaffolds for tissue engineering and vascularization
  • 3D printing and medical devices for tissue regeneration and drug delivery
  • Mechanobiological modeling and bioactive hydrogels to improve therapeutic outcomes

We look forward to hearing from you and collaborating on this special issue.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Applied Sciences is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
