Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The proliferation of the Internet of Things (IoT) has revolutionized various sectors, leading to the interconnection of billions of devices worldwide. This interconnected ecosystem relies heavily on robust and efficient wireless communication networks, from the backbones to the edges of IoT infrastructure. The seamless integration of intelligent IoT networks with wireless communication technologies is pivotal for the advancement of smart cities, healthcare, industrial automation, and many other domains.

The convergence of IoT and wireless communication has opened new avenues for enhancing connectivity, data transmission, and real-time processing. However, this integration poses significant challenges, including but not limited to security concerns, energy efficiency, network scalability, latency reduction, and the management of massive data flows. The emergence of intelligent algorithms and machine learning techniques offers promising solutions to these challenges, enabling smarter, more adaptive, and resilient IoT networks.

In this Special Issue, we seek to explore and address the myriad challenges and innovations in the field of intelligent IoT networks and wireless communication. We invite researchers, academicians, and industry experts to submit original research papers, reviews, and case studies that delve into the latest developments, theoretical frameworks, practical implementations, and future trends in this dynamic area.

To foster a comprehensive understanding and further innovation in intelligent IoT networks and wireless communication, this Special Issue will cover, but is not limited to, the following topics:

  • Advanced Wireless Communication Protocols;
  • IoT Network Architectures;
  • Edge Computing and Fog Computing;
  • Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning in IoT;
  • Security and Privacy;
  • Energy Efficiency;
  • Interoperability and Standardization;
  • Data Management and Analytics;
  • Applications and Case Studies.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Applied Sciences is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
