Dear Colleagues,
We invite you to participate in a Special Issue titled "Software for Seismological Applications".
In recent years, due to the increasing amount of available data and the significant advances in the development of theories and methods for understanding and analyzing seismic catalogs, waveforms, GPS data, etc., together with the growing techniques assessing the quality of results and catalogs, it has become increasingly important to have robust computer code that can be shared among researchers. In many cases, seismologists publish data analysis results rather than the algorithms that are used to obtain them. Without sharing the details, it is difficult to replicate the same results for similar experiments. On the other hand, new technologies and capabilities, e.g., in machine learning and statistics, are usually not known in detail by potential users, making it difficult for individual researchers to analyze their own data or repeat results with the cutting-edge knowledge of the community. Shared codes for comparing or producing results from different researchers could be a great help in comparing different approaches. In addition, young researchers can learn and compare results based on existing software as part of their training in specific areas of seismology.
This Special Issue is cross-cutting, and focuses on available, developed, and freely available software in all areas of seismology.

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Applied Sciences is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
