Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

With the continuous development of computer networks and electronic information technology, the information age has come. Diversified information technology promotes scientific and technological progress, and artificial intelligence has become a landmark product of scientific and technological development. Artificial intelligence technology has been introduced and widely used in various fields of society, bringing great convenience to people's production and life, and greatly promoting social progress and development. Compared with other technologies, AI technology has obvious cross characteristics and involves rich scientific content. Only by fully combining theory with application can better AI technology be developed. In the field of intelligent manufacturing, thanks to the vigorous development of image acquisition hardware, deep learning algorithms, edge computing, and other technologies, industrial detection based on machine vision, industrial robots, and intelligent sorting scenes have been widely used. With the aid of artificial intelligence, the workload of personnel can be reduced, the error rate can be reduced, and the product quality can be improved.

This Special Issue aims to enable peers to exchange cutting-edge research results of AI in intelligent manufacturing. The scope of achievements focuses on but is not limited to, the innovation and development of AI technology and the application and innovation of AI technology in manufacturing.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Applied Sciences is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.

A precision spherical joint is a type of spherical motion pair that can realize three degrees of rotation freedom. In this paper, a specific method is used to assess the uncertainty of our measurement system. The measurement system uses the codes and eddy current sensor to measure the angle. Different codes are engraved on the surface of the spherical joint. Eddy current sensors are embedded in the spherical socket to detect and recognize the spherical code. The uncertainty of the measurement system hardware and an artificial neural network are studied. Based on the Monte Carlo method, the uncertainty components are evaluated and combined, and the comprehensive uncertainty of the measurement system is obtained. The evaluation results of system measurement uncertainty are verified from specific angles. In the three-axis measurement uncertainty, the minimum is about 2′, and the maximum uncertainty is about 1°. The proposed method can be used to evaluate the uncertainty of other multiple-input multiple-output measurement systems. Full article
