Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

We invite you to contribute to our forthcoming special issue, "Recent Progress in Stem Cells and Stem Cell-Derived Biotherapeutics for Regenerative Medicine Applications." Stem cell research is at the forefront of biomedical innovation, offering unprecedented potential for addressing a myriad of health challenges and advancing regenerative medicine. Stem cells, including induced pluripotent stem cells, have been identified as an effective therapy to regenerate injured tissues. Innovative preclinical and clinical studies on stem cell therapies have created exciting possibilities for repairing injuries in various organs and improving quality of life.

This comprehensive volume aims to capture the latest advancements, breakthroughs, and promising avenues within the dynamic field of stem cell research. By bringing together contributions from leading experts and emerging voices, we seek to create a definitive resource that encompasses the breadth and depth of contemporary developments.

Potential topics for contributions include but are not limited to the following:

  1. Cutting-edge techniques in stem cell isolation, culture, and characterization;
  2. Novel applications of stem cells or extracellular vesicles/exosomes in tissue engineering and organ regeneration;
  3. Therapeutic implications of stem cell-based interventions for treating various diseases and injuries;
  4. Nanoengineered stem cells as advanced biotherapeutics;
  5. Stem cells for biomanufacturing applications;
  6. New biomaterials, nanomaterials, bioactive materials, and hydrogels for stem cell-based tissue engineering and biofabrication;
  7. Bioethical considerations and regulatory frameworks shaping the landscape of stem cell research;
  8. Emerging trends and future directions in harnessing stem cells for clinical translation.

We invite researchers, clinicians, educators, and industry professionals to share their insights, experiences, and findings through original research articles, reviews, case studies, and perspectives. By contributing to this collaborative effort, you will not only showcase your expertise but also contribute to advancing our collective understanding of stem cell biology and its transformative potential for regenerative medicine.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Bioengineering is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2700 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.

Benefits of Publishing in a Special Issue

  • Ease of navigation: Grouping papers by topic helps scholars navigate broad scope journals more efficiently.
  • Greater discoverability: Special Issues support the reach and impact of scientific research. Articles in Special Issues are more discoverable and cited more frequently.
  • Expansion of research network: Special Issues facilitate connections among authors, fostering scientific collaborations.
  • External promotion: Articles in Special Issues are often promoted through the journal's social media, increasing their visibility.
  • e-Book format: Special Issues with more than 10 articles can be published as dedicated e-books, ensuring wide and rapid dissemination.
