Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

A large amount of research data shows that more than half of the DNA in higher organisms is transcribed into RNA, with the vast majority being non-coding RNA (ncRNA), including microRNA, lncRNA, circRNA, rRNA, tRNA, and so on. Even some scientists predict that ncRNA plays an equally important role in biological development as proteins. However, currently little is known about the entire world of ncRNAs, so the main task is to discover more ncRNAs and their biological functions. Recently, studies have shown that ncRNAs play an important regulatory role in the proliferation, migration, infiltration, metabolic remodeling of tumor cells, activation of immune cells, and expression of tumor immune checkpoint proteins. Revealing its mechanism of regulating the interaction between tumor cells and tissue microenvironment, as well as tumor immune escape, is expected to provide new strategies for tumor combination therapy. In view of this, ncRNAs have the potential to become novel tumor molecular markers and therapeutic targets. At present, most traditional small-molecule drugs target proteins, but only a small portion of the entire proteome can be used as drugs. Therefore, using this type of RNA as a novel target will significantly broaden the range of drug targets and bring new changes to the development of new drugs. New research papers, reviews, case reports, and conference papers addressing these topics are welcome to this Special Issue.
